Darren Sharp is an attorney with the Schaefer Law Firm, LLC where represents clients in all areas of plaintiffs' employment law and consumer protection law.
In the employment law field, Darren concentrates his practice in discrimination claims. He has worked with clients on gender, age, disability, and race discrimination claims under the Minnesota Human Rights Act, Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act. He has also represented clients with Family and Medical Leave Act and Fair Labor Standards Act claims. He has presented arguments in U.S. District Court and Minnesota state court.
Darren focuses his consumer protection practice mainly on predatory lending and other illegal lending and real estate transactions.
A fluent Spanish speaker, Darren has worked with dozens of Spanish-speaking clients and has expanded the firm's ability to serve clients with limited English language abilities.
Darren received his B.A. in Political Science and Spanish from the University of Missouri . During his undergraduate studies, Darren spent two semesters studying at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico, in Mexico City, Mexico . Prior to law school, Darren taught middle school social studies in Denver, Colorado . He received his J.D. from the University of Minnesota . During law school Darren was a student director of the Workers' Rights Clinic where he represented clients on a wide variety of employment law issues. For his work in the clinic, Darren was awarded the Kent Wennerstrom Award as the Outstanding Clinic Student Director of 2006-2007.
He is a member of the Minnesota State and Dakota County Bar Associations.
